Why have crop tops become a merch staple?

The cropped silhouette moved out of activewear and into everyday merch some years ago and has stayed. For festivals, studios, gyms, cafes and student groups it now reads as the default rather than the alternative, and a straight cut tee can look dated alongside it.

How should artwork be placed on a crop top?

You have far less vertical room to work with, so a design scaled for a standard tee will simply not fit. A tall logo either gets cut off by the hem or shrinks to the point of being unreadable. Wide, short lock ups work best here. If your logo is stacked vertically, a horizontal version of it is worth creating before the run, and we can advise on how to adapt it.

Are all cropped styles the same shape?

The range covers cropped tees, tanks, crews and hooded styles, and they sit at different lengths. A cropped hood is usually a boxier, heavier piece. A cropped tank is much more cut away. Decide which end of that scale suits the group before you pick a colour, because the shape does more to the finished look than the colour will.

Do we need to offer a non cropped option too?

For a mixed group, yes. Pairing a cropped style with a regular fit in the same colour and print keeps everyone included and still looks like one set.

    How much shorter is it?

It varies by style rather than following one standard. Check the length measurement on the specific product rather than assuming, and order a sample if it matters.

    Can it be embroidered?

Yes, though the placement options are tighter. A small left chest mark is the safest choice on a short body.
