What does organic cotton actually mean?

It describes how the cotton was grown, without synthetic pesticides and fertilisers, usually with more careful water management. It is a claim about farming rather than a claim about how the finished garment feels. Plenty of conventional cotton is lovely to wear, and organic cotton is not automatically softer.

How do you know the cotton is genuinely organic?

The word organic on its own carries no legal weight in apparel. What carries weight is third party certification, GOTS being the most widely recognised. If sustainability is genuinely part of your pitch, ask for the certification on the specific style you are ordering rather than accepting a general claim about a brand. We would rather tell you exactly what a garment is certified for than let you overstate it in public.

Which decoration method suits organic cotton?

There is little sense putting a low impact garment together with a decoration method chosen carelessly. Water based inks sit well on organic cotton and avoid the plastic handfeel of a heavy plastisol print. Embroidery adds no ink at all. Tell us the aim and we will match the method to it.

    Does it cost more?

Usually a little, reflecting lower yields and the cost of certification. The gap has narrowed and it is smaller than most people expect.

Can we say our merch is sustainable?

Be specific rather than sweeping. Naming the certification and the fibre is accurate and defensible. Broad claims invite scrutiny you do not need.

    What is in the range?

More than tees. The organic styles run across dresses, hooded pieces and rib fabrics as well, so a coordinated order is possible.
